In the UK a DLC season pass can be purchased via your respective console stores for all 6 DLC packs for £12.79, or alternatively you can buy each pack individually for £2.99. In the future is it so impossible to imagine a DC game that has Marvel DLC or vice versa? Or is that just crazy talk? The Arrow pack certainly confirms that the idea is not out of the realms of possibility, but then Flash is only just gaining popularity whereas Arrow has a solid fan base that Traveler’s Tales know audiences will react positively to. Potentially we could see a pack centred around DC’s Flash series. This isn’t unheard of by LEGO – every year LEGO Star Wars advent calendars hit the shelves, so perhaps soon you’ll be playing as a Santa Superman or enjoying a level in which Green Lantern needs to deliver presents across Gotham…and beyond? With Christmas just around the corner it may just be possible that a festive themed selection of characters is on its way. If it is indeed is part of the core 6 however, then it’s a bit of a disappointment, but on a brighter note suggests that the final pack includes a generous helping of playable minifigures to make the overall figure closer to the promised 40 characters. This one includes ‘Rainbow Rider’ and ‘Rainbow Batman’, but is not thought to be part of core 6 DLC packs. Indeed, this could mean if ever a LEGO Batman 4 is created, characters from DC’s new hit series, Gotham may feature. But we are still left with one question about the current LEGO Batman game – What are the final two DLC packs? Well, Amazon UK are offering a bonus DLC pack for pre-orderng the game with them. For the future this could mean a LEGO Marvel title that includes characters from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or characters from the upcoming Peggy Carter series. This pack is not only exciting for fans of Arrow but marks the first time in which the LEGO game universe has enveloped a television show. Malcom Merlyn, Roy Harper, Diggle, Felicity, are among other favourites that feature. This pack is a true gift for fans of the super-drama, including characters such as Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow, voiced by Stephen Amell himself who promises a humours performance. Last month the fourth DLC pack was revealed as inspired by none other than the hit DC Television show, Arrow. So inevitably following this announcement speculation raged across the web, wondering what the theme of the fourth pack would be. These initial packs were revealed as the first 3 of 6 DLC packs that would collectively offer 40 playable characters, boosting the overall roster to a record breaking 190 LEGO heroes and villains. The Man of Steel pack mirrors this by promising to include a level inspired by the opening scene of the film and characters like Superman’s parents Jor-El, and Lara Lor-Van, and of course the Kryptonian baddie, General Zod.

The Dark Knight pack contains movie minifigures of villains such as Bane, Two-Face, Nurse-Joker and Catwoman. Just as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes pioneered, these packs are harnessing the film-tie-in-ability of the LEGO games. The first three of these expansion packs were announced back in September and include the Dark Knight, Man of Steel and Batman 75th Anniversary packs, all of which promised to include new characters, vehicles, and for the first time levels that have both story and free-play modes. But all of this seems like just a snack when compared to the all-you-can-eat buffet of DLC that will soon be available for LEGO Batman 3. The Asguard pack continued the merging of film characters variations, giving players control of LEGO Odin and Malekith. The Super Pack gave us the likes of the cosmic tyrant, Thanos and a costume variation on Hawkeye, sporting his classic attire as opposed to the supported Marvel Cinematic Universe suit.

Last year DLC packs for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes were released that gifted players with additional fan favourite characters. What I believe this LEGO title will outdo its predecessors on, is its boastful array of new DLC. Now, I know this doesn’t sound so attractive right now but bear with me. you will want to buy the game so that you can spend more money on it. But why should you be looking forward to it? The fact that for the first time in the game series’ history you’ll be able to play as over 150 of your favourite DC characters… in space? Nope. In two days Traveler’s Tales launches the much anticipated, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. With the success of their recent LEGO superhero titles such as LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, its no surprise that the reviews for the Dark Knight’s latest LEGO adventure are already looking positive.
